Why Buddha has a plate behind his head

Ever wonder why all those statues of Buddha show him with a plate behind his head? It's because he's enlightened. He's reached Nirvana and beyond. Ever wonder how? Let me acquaint you with a little secret: So when I get up in the morning I look like I just got up from my grave. My face is grey, my eyes are lifeless. When people see me they scream (albeit not louder than i do of course). When I get on the school bus I look daggers at everybody because I'm not enjoying my day yet and so, of course, how dare they give me sweet welcoming morning smiles. People think I'm not a morning person. For reasons that are, obviously, obvious.

But that's not true. Once I sit down on the blue bus seat I have time to gaze lovingly at the black mug in my hand. I shower it with attention and slowly twist open the cover. The smell that wafts out puts a huge (almost manic, my friends seem to think) grin on my face. It's the smell of coffee: pitch black, sugarless and with not a drop of milk. Just the way i like it :)

Everyone admits that the smell is absolutely, ravishingly delicious. But they're not so accommodating when it comes to the taste. They whimper like cowards when the bitter taste touches their tongues. But not me! Coffee could never have a bitter taste for me. Well I mean in the metaphorical sense. No. Coffee is like the friend I never had. Or maybe I did. Anyway, Coffee is my companion in moments of extreme low blood-pressure-distress. While other people wail about their coffee-induced pimples I'm glorifying in my caffeine-induced high.

So I think I've reached the height of self-actualization. Just like Buddha (yes he got there by drinking coffee too). So, want to taste what fulfillment feels like? Fill a mug with hot water and copious amounts of preferably Tim Burton's coffee beans, take a backseat and sip away. Insane euphoria with extreme relaxation sound like a paradox? Not anymore.

Do you really think this bloody road would pave the way for you..

Sooo many people complain about how their life has no meaning, no direction. Don't get me wrong I love complaining, I whine ALL the time, about stupid little things. Anyway, I know at times you feel as if life is useless, and there's no point to it, but direction is something that you have got to give yourself. It depends solely on your choice of what you want to do with your life, where you want to be in the future, no one can TELL you who to be, its something you decide for yourself.
Ayn Rand said that the worst kind of person is the one without purpose. Purpose is the engine behind any force of nature, any object, any creation. A human being who has the greatest mind amongst all living creatures, cannot use that power, this tremendous gift to give meaning to his life is truly the worst kind of human being.
And to give a direction to your life you have to get off your lazy butt and look for it. Its not going to come as some godly revelation if you don't look for it. Forget something like meaning to your life, you can't find ANYTHING if you don't look for it. You have to experience new things and actively search for something that you want to do.
Imagine a life with purpose, full of drive and energy, without a moment of boredom, ambition, success...
How cool is ambition though... it not only shows an amazing drive to succeed but also the kind of dignity and respect you have for yourself, you believe in yourself. Makes you rethink the whole we're just a tiny drop in the ocean theory. I mean, yeah the world is a huge place and you're just one little part of it, you're not the centre of the world, bla bla bla. But if you only go with that theory you miss out on all the power you wield as a single person. One person can totally change the world.

Dream Brother

Don't be like the one who made me so old, don't be like the one who left
behind his name, 'cause they're waiting for you like I waited for mine and
nobody ever came...

One of the greatest vocalists ever Jeff Buckley died on 29 may 1997, at
the age of 30, by drowning in the Memphis river. He left behind a legacy. His voice has a melody that enraptures me. With a range of five and a half octaves, his songs Grace, Bream brother, Best of Me and Lover you should've come over are some the most amazing songs I have heard. In fact Grace was the only album he completed.A good friend, Chris Cornell dedicated his song Wave Goodbye ( Euphoria Morning) to Jeff Buckley. Cornell has said that its one of the most straightforward songs he has ever written.Jeff Buckley wrote this song for his friend, his dream brother, so that he wouldn't leave his girlfriend and his unborn child, as he himself grew up without his father. Tim Buckley, left his mother while she was pregnant and though the father and son barely know each other their life followed a similar path. Music critic David Browne traced the lives of Jeff and Tim Buckley in
his book Dream Brother.

The power of words

"Patriotism is the virtue of the vicious"
Oscar Wilde
Ayn Rand also speaks of supposed "heroes" of mankind who are destroying the world under the guise of certain democracy and socail responsibilty. Their quest however is to live in a world wher they do nothing, except wield the power to command others to create a world worth living in. She speaks of the virtue of selfishness. Her books rank amongst my favourites, even though I do not Completely agree with her philosophy.
Books by Ayn Rand:
  • The fountainhead
  • Atlas Shrugged
  • We the Living
  • The night of January 16th
  • Anthem

Here i dreamt I was an architect...

The artist can express anything.

Thought and language are to the artist instruments of an art.

I always wished I could be like those great painters who create magnificence with the stroke of a brush. But for me it's just a hobby that I sometimes pick up, (and I'm not That great at it) I guess you have to find that perfect medium for it to be something that essentially belongs to you. Lately I've been using Charcoal, there's something about creating something in shades of black. I'm obsessed with Black, really. Its so encompassing, it owns everything, like a never ending abyss.

Me and My Shoes

One thing I really love to do is to buy shoes...
The feeling I get when I find that perfect pair makes everything else blurry. It makes my day seem perfect no matter what has happened and yet on any perfect day if I don't find a pair of shoes it completely destroys my mood. It's as if all the joy and hope in life hinges on finding a pair of shoes. I LOVE buying shoes. It's my way of getting over things that bother me and moving on. And its not just shoes, there are so many things in life that I love, small things and yet I can't imagine my day without them, small silly little things like my cup of coffee or the perfect shade of maroon nail polish which surprisingly is the only one that suits me, the sign on my phone showing that I have new message or simply a Jeff Buckley song. When you stop to think about everyone has moments of inexplicable joy from the smallest things imaginable. For something that most of us find so elusive joy is the simplest of all emotions, it can exist in anything and everything. Joy is your favorite movie, its a strawberry milkshake, its laughing so hard that you can't stand up,its seeing something beautiful when you least expect it, its a little kid who wants to hold only your hand, its giggling at inside jokes with friends and running at the beach, or meeting someone you didn't even know you missed.
